West Brom news as Guochuan Lai deadline for loan repayment today

The silence is “deafening” at West Brom as the deadline for Guochuan Lai to repay a £4.95m loan looms today on 31 December, according to journalist Lewis Cox.

The Baggies owner has until the end of the day to pay back his loan, having taken out another £20m loan against all of the club’s assets including The Hawthorns ground this week.

But with the financial stability of the club in question, there has been no comment from anyone at the club about whether or not the loan has been paid back, despite promises from Ron Gourlay.

Awful

There are really big problems happening right now at West Brom, and this is just the tip of the iceberg if the loan is not paid back in time.

Fans were guaranteed that the loan would be paid back on time, but with news of another loan being taken out so recently that only begs the question of how deep the problems really are.

There has been no transparency from the owners and the board, so fans are left to wonder and guess at what the case might be, and that only makes things worse too.

Gourlay needs to come out and explain things, but better than that would be for Lai himself to come out and talk to the fans and the other shareholders about what he’s doing here.

Someone needs to come out and speak, and fans need to know what is happening, because right now there is far too much concern about the future of this club.
