Kevin Campbell makes ‘firepower’ claim amid West Brom free agent talk
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Campbell has urged West Brom to only sign players who will make a difference in the second half of the Championship season.
The Baggies have enjoyed a spectacular rise up the table and currently sit ninth, just one point outside the top six at the moment.
There are a number of players who are free agents at present, including former Albion striker Salomon Rondon. However, Campbell believes the club should be looking to spend money rather than pick up players who are currently without a club.

“I don’t know, I mean Rondon is an experienced player but I think they’ve got enough firepower at the moment,” Campbell exclusively told West Brom News.
“They’ve got a good squad and there aren’t many areas which they need to improve at the moment however if ever someone comes up, who they can get who will make a real difference, then that’s what I think they’re going to do.
“Free agents are up to the management team but if you’ve got the money and somebody comes up that you can acquire then that’s something they’ll have to take on board.
“When you consider where West Brom were to where they are now, it’s remarkable that they’re within touching distance of the playoffs. They are going to be there or thereabouts, they just have to keep it going.”

Next up for Carlos Corberan’s side is a FA Cup tie against Chesterfield before a huge Championship clash away to Luton Town, who currently sit seventh.
If the Baggies can maintain this kind of form then there’s every chance they will find themselves cemented within the playoffs in the next couple of weeks.
In other West Brom news, a £50million takeover approach was made to Lai at the start of the season.
