Kevin Campbell shares ‘interesting’ West Brom transfer view amid player injury absence
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Campbell has suggested West Brom might go out and sign another defender to cover for the injured Kyle Bartley.
The Express and Star report (31 December) that in-form Bartley could be out of action for up to five weeks after suffering a thigh issue before the Championship campaign resumed after the World Cup.
Campbell feels that if there’s nobody in the squad who can do Bartley’s job, then there’s a chance the Spaniard could delve into the transfer market to find cover for the 31-year-old.

“It’s unclear how long he’s going to be out for at the moment and they have got strength in depth at the club but the manager might want somebody else in,” Campbell exclusively told West Brom News.
“It’s going to be interesting to see what happens in January. Coberan knows exactly what he wants most of the time and he’s got a real set way of playing.
“If nobody is in the building who can do the job in Bartley’s job, then he might have to go out and sign someone.”

The Baggies now turn their attention to the FA Cup with a trip to National League side Chesterfield on the cards for Corberan’s side on Saturday (7 January).
It will be a good opportunity for Albion’s boss to shuffle the pack slightly and give some of his fringe players the chance to play from the outset. West Brom’s next Championship fixture is a huge clash against playoff-chasing Luton Town, who currently sit seventh in the league standings.
