Sky Sports pundit makes ‘bedding-in’ claim on West Brom summer signing Okay Yokuslu

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Campbell feels the signing of Okay Yokuslu was “important” because the 28-year-old didn’t need to get used to his new surroundings at West Brom.

Steve Bruce signed the Turkish midfielder in the summer, bringing him back to The Hawthorns after spending time on loan with the Baggies in 2021.

Campbell has suggested the midfielder has been a big part of Albion’s improved form and has been impressed with the points return under Carlos Corberan.

“I think re-signing somebody who knows the club is important because they don’t really need a bedding-in period,” Campbell exclusively told West Brom News.

“You see he goes out there and performs well and the club are on the move with the wins they’ve picked up recently and that’s great going in the Championship.

“The only other teams who have put a run together like that consistently are Burnley and Sheffield United. Everyone knows the type of squad West Brom have and signing players who know the club is key and Yokuslu has done really well.”

Attention now turns to the FA Cup for the Spaniard with National League Chesterfield set to host his side on Saturday (7 January). It provides the West Brom boss with a chance to shuffle his starting eleven slightly and give some of his fringe players a runout.

The Baggies then head back into Championship action with a crunch clash against playoff-chasing Luton Town on the horizon.
