West Brom and Burnley want to sign Brighton striker Evan Ferguson on loan, decision made
West Brom, Swansea and Burnley all want to sign Brighton’s 18-year-old striker Evan Ferguson on loan, according to The Daily Mail.
However, it’s understood the Seagulls are set to rebuff any interest in the forward and are looking to offer Ferguson a new contract on the South Coast (The Daily Mail, print edition, 5 January, page 69).
The Irish striker has made three Premier League appearances for the Sussex club and has hit the back of the net in Brighton’s last two games against Arsenal and Everton.

Right idea
This is the right idea from Carlos Corberan and the recruitment team at The Hawthorns. Ferguson is a developing player and a loan deal would certainly suit the Baggies considering their current financial situation. It appears Brighton aren’t going to let the striker leave the club in January, but this shouldn’t deter Albion from targeting other younger players from Premier League clubs.
West Brom are in a very good place on the pitch at the moment and the Spaniard won’t be looking to dramatically change his squad too much. However, adding one or two quality loan additions could well be a route Corberan goes down in the January window.

Making permanent signings in the winter can be notoriously hard and expensive, as a number of clubs look to add game-changing additions to their ranks. The Baggies certainly don’t need too much in terms of reinforcements, with a midfielder and potentially another striker the priorities.
Things are going so well at the moment, it seems unlikely the new boss will make too many major adjustments to his squad over the next month.
