Alan Nixon shares update on West Brom chase for Nottingham Forest ace Lewis O’Brien

West Brom want to sign Lewis O’Brien from Nottingham Forest and journalist Alan Nixon believes the deal has “got a chance of success”.

The Baggies are looking to bolster their squad ahead of a renewed promotion push following the arrival of former Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan before the World Cup break.

And now the Spaniard is keen to reunite with his former player at The Hawthorns according to Nixon (8 January), and The Sun journalist shared on Twitter to a fan that he believes the deal has a chance of getting done.

“That one has only just come up,” he responded when asked by a fan if a deal was close.

“Would say it’s got a chance of success.”

Huge

O’Brien was one of the standout performers in the Championship last season under Corberan and looked all set to shine in the Premier League.

But after being part of the mass influx of players at Nottingham Forest under Steve Cooper this season, he seems to now have been lost in the shuffle and didn’t even make the bench for the FA Cup clash with Blackpool at the weekend.

West Brom

His future at the City Ground looks bleak, and a reunion with the manager who helped him to achieve the best season of his career to date and essentially got him that move would surely be appealing.

West Brom have got plenty of options in attack currently, but with Daryl Dike’s fitness issues in the past and the lack of goals from midfield so far this season, you can never have too many.

O’Brien would represent a real coup of a signing, but with our financial situation you would expect a loan to be the most likely scenario, so there will probably be some way to go before it’s done.
