Carlos Corberan seeking to reunite with Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien at West Brom
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan is watching developments with Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien as the Spanish coach seeks to reunite with the 23-year-old at The Hawthorns, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
The former Huddersfield midfielder was one of Corberan’s success stories at The John Smith’s Stadium last season featuring in all of the club’s 46 Sky Bet Championship games as the Terriers only just missed out on promotion to the Premier League following their play-off final defeat to Nottingham Forest in May.
In fact, O’Brien has been linked with the Baggies in the past, with reports in June [Yorkshire Live, 3 June] claiming that the midfielder’s stunning rise was being watched by both West Brom and Leeds United.

With the midfielder struggling to make an impression at Nottingham Forest following his £9million move to the City Ground over the summer, Baggies boss Corberan is keeping tabs on developments on his future under Steve Cooper, as reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon [8 January] page.
He said: “West Brom boss Corberan is watching developments with midfielder Lewis O’Brien at Nottingham Forest. The pair worked together at Huddersfield last season before moving on and Corberan could make a loan move if O’Brien stays out in the cold at Forest.
“Big money buy O’Brien was not even on the bench for Forest at Southampton and that only confirms rumours that he is available.”
Must complete transfer
Having racked up over 100 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship and his much-needed experience of being in a promotion battle, O’Brien could well turn out to be a superb pick-up from the Baggies.
The 23-year-old’s struggles at Forest aren’t indicative of his qualities at all, as he arguably still remains one of Cooper’s most complete and well-rounded midfielders as he showed in Huddersfield’s tremendous run to the play-off final last term.

Considering Corberan’s knowledge of the player and the success they enjoyed together at The John Smith’s Stadium last season, this is indeed a transfer the Baggies must complete if they are to back their boss in pushing for promotion back into the English top flight.
The midfielder certainly won’t have any qualms about working with Corberan once again.
More crucially, his robustness, athleticism, engine room and dynamism in the middle of the park could certainly boost the quality in West Brom’s squad, which makes this potential transfer an absolute no-brainer. Get it done.
