Quevin Castro rejects Notts County loan extension, returns to West Brom
Quevin Castro has opted not to stay at Notts County on loan and return to West Brom to try and find more first-team opportunities.
The 21-year-old was a semi-regular player at Meadow Lane but would often have to come off the bench in the National League with the Magpies flying high in the division.
Manager Luke Williams was keen to see him stay at the club for the rest of the season, an official statement on Notts County’s website said, but he chose not to accept the loan extension.
This is already Castro’s second loan for the season after he left League One Burton Albion after five matches in the summer transfer window after failing to hit the mark at the Pirelli Stadium.
Luckily for the 21-year-old, players can now play for three different teams in one season rather than two as it was before so he can secure another loan away from The Hawthorns this month or make an impact for Carlos Corberan.
Why?
Castro was still getting game time at Notts County, even if it wasn’t from the start as much as he had envisaged, and more importantly, he was a part of a team fighting for promotion.
He has just thrown away a chance to earn promotion to the Football League with the Magpies and have that very difficult achievement on his CV forever.

Instead, he is looking for guaranteed games every single week at whatever level he can get it and that could easily be in the same league he has just left.
But rather than helping a historic club get back to where they belong, he will probably end up in mid-table obscurity or maybe even a relegation scrap.
That is far less impressive for future managers who may want to sign him if he does not succeed at West Brom and the chances of that are slim given his inability to thrive in non-league.
In other West Brom news, Daryl Dike’s absence from the USA World Cup squad baffled one former USMNT star who described the Baggies striker as “unbelievable.”
