West Brom forward Karlan Grant shouldn’t be written off with gold dust attribute
West Brom forward Karlan Grant shouldn’t be written off by fans just yet as he has a knack for scoring goals which is gold dust in the modern game, according to The Athletic journalist Elias Burke.
Grant hadn’t scored for the Albion since last August before the FA Cup tie against Chesterfield and looked like a threat at times against the National League side.
Burke admitted that Grant shouldn’t be fully written off from making a dent in Corberan’s starting XI and has a “gold dust” goalscoring attribute that makes him an imperfect fit under Corberan.
“It’s an unpopular opinion here, & some criticisms are justified, but a goal & assist on Saturday is what Karlan Grant has done his whole career,” announced Burke on Twitter.
“He’s an imperfect fit under Corberan, but shouldn’t be written off, cos goalscorers are like gold dust.”
Flawed.
Whilst it’s always nice to give players the benefit of the doubt, Grant has too many flaws to be considered an option for Corberan on a regular basis.
And whilst he displayed some promising attacking attributes during the Chesterfield clash, he also highlighted his inept ability to track back and help his team defend.

Grant gave the ball away on two occasions which led to Chesterfield goals, something he needs to rid of from his game if he is to be considered an option for Corberan again.
Burke is right though, Grant is “imperfect” and he may be needed at some point to grab some goals for the Baggies if Brandon Thomas-Asante and Daryl Dike aren’t providing.
On a whole, it’s probably the thinking of most fans that the team as a collective are better off without Grant in the West Brom starting XI, he doesn’t put in enough effort to complement Corberan’s relentless playing style.
