West Brom make approach to sign Leyton Orient striker Daniel Nkrumah, Middlesbrough also in pursuit

West Brom have made an approach to sign Leyton Orient’s teenage striker Daniel Nkrumah, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Writing on Patreon (11 January), the Sun journalist has reported that the Baggies have made an enquiry to sign the striker, and London-based club Orient could be forced to accept an offer to strengthen their own promotion bid.

The Baggies could face competition from Championship rivals Middlesbrough in the race to sign the 19-year-old striker.

West Brom

“West Brom and Middlesbrough are battling it out for the signature of Leyton Orient’s teenage striker Daniel Nkrumah,” wrote Nixon on Patreon.

“Boro are expected to make an offer to tempt the League Two club but now Baggies have also made an inquiry.

“Nkrumah has been on loan at Welling and has a growing reputation. Orient may be forced to take an offer to strengthen their own promotion bid.”

Interesting

Nkrumah has been on loan at Welling United and his reputation is fast growing.

It appears that Carlos Corberan is looking to add depth to his attacking ranks, and the Baggies must provide him with the funds to complete the deal.

The Spaniard has the likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Daryl Dike and Karlan Grant as major options in the forward department, but there could be an option for another striker on the senior side.

West Brom

Birmingham Mail reported on 10 January that the Baggies are seeking to prematurely end Kenneth Zohore’s time at the club this summer.

The Danish striker has proved to be a disaster of a signing for Albion, and the Baggies are keen to get rid of him. Nkrumah is an exciting young talent who could be his long-term replacement at the club.

The Baggies are financially crippled at the moment, but the board should still be able to provide the necessary cash to Corberan to get the deal done ahead of Boro.

In other West Brom news, Albion are in talks to terminate this big-money player’s contract early.
