West Brom stadium blow as internal deadlines missed at The Hawthorns

Conservative councillor Les Trumpeter has revealed that “internal deadlines” have been missed and chased in attempts for The Hawthorns to be nominated as an ACV.

An application was sent in November and two months down the line the Baggies’ answers have not been met, leaving Trumpeter frustrated.

The councillor confessed that the applicant’s S4A and Leigh Kent have worked hard by putting in hours of their own time to resolve the matter, something which is a kick in the teeth for them.

“Frustrating update from me West Brom fans. Come on sandwell council get this sorted,” vented Trumpeter on his personal Twitter account. (17 January, 9:34 am)

“The relevant department has been chased and chased and internals deadlines have been missed.”

West Brom

Asset of Community Value (ACV).

Shareholders for Albion put forward their application for The Hawthorns to be listed as an Asset of Community Value, a move which was welcomed by the club and fans.

The move was made in an attempt to secure the future of the stadium for generations to come but has since been met with silence.

An Asset of Community Value (ACV) is a designation given to certain buildings or land in the United Kingdom that are considered to have community value.

Therefore it is protected from being sold or developed without the community being given an opportunity to purchase them.

The designation is given by local councils under the Localism Act 2011 and can be applied to buildings or land that are used for community purposes or are considered to be of importance to the community.

Other stadiums that are listed as ACVs in England include Old Trafford and Anfield, hopefully, a resolution can be found for West Brom too, sooner, rather than later.

In other West Brom news, Guochuan Lai wants to sell the club with the takeover now dependant on one condition.
