Journalist blown away by John Swift as West Brom win 4-0 v Chesterfield

West Brom moved to the fourth round of the FA Cup after they defeated Chesterfield 4-0 in the replay at the Hawthorns on Tuesday (17 January).

John Swift scored the opening goal for the Baggies, while Tom Rogic, Jake Livermore and Jovan Malcolm added other goals to round off a comfortable win.

Birmingham Live journalist Joe Chapman was full of praise for Swift as he described the goal as a “fabulous” finish.

“Fabulous finish. Chesterfield make a hash of clearing the ball. Grimes slices a clearance up in the air and Livermore wins a header on the edge of the box. Swift brings it down and curls a left footed strike into the far corner,” wrote Chapman on Twitter.

Momentum

The winning run continues, and the fans rejoice.

Swift joined in the summer transfer window as a free agent. He was a sensational player for Reading and scored 11 goals last season.

However, he simply couldn’t exert his influence under Steve Bruce. Under Corberan, we are gradually witnessing the player that we all know is capable of.

Swift has managed three goals and five assists and his performances have drastically improved in the last couple of months. In fact, the best part of Corberan’s management is that he has brought the best out of his existing players.

West Brom

The Baggies were sluggish in the away fixture as they drew 3-3. This time, they remained solid at the back, and made sure, they move to the next round with a dominant performance.

The Baggies have just lost once in their last 12 games in all competitions, winning 10 of them. It has been a remarkable turnaround, and the fans are absolutely loving it.

In other West Brom news, Guochuan Lai wants to sell the club with the takeover now dependant on one condition.
