West Brom player ratings v Burnley: Daryl Dike struggles, Okay Yokuslu shines
West Brom suffered their third Championship defeat under Carlos Corberan as league leaders Burnley came from behind to secure a 2-1 win at Turf Moor.
The Baggies took the lead through a Darnell Furlong header and the Baggies looked on course to pick up an important win.
However, goals from Nathan Tella and Scott Twine in the last 15 minutes saw Vincent Kompany’s side strengthen their position at the top of the Championship. Here West Brom News rates the players out of ten for performances at Turf Moor.

Alex Palmer – 7
Marvellous reaction save in the first half to deny the host’s an equaliser. Commanded his box brilliantly and filled his backline with plenty of confidence. Will be disappointed not to have got closer to Burnley’s equaliser.
Darnell Furlong – 6
Clinical header gave the Baggies the lead in the first half. Was fairly competent defensively and understood his role in the Baggies’ system.
Dara O’Shea – 7
Burnley are an excellent side and they were always going to cause problems. O’Shea stood up well to Ashley Barnes’ physical presence and didn’t take any risks at the back. Defended set pieces well. It wasn’t a night to take any chances and he certainly didn’t – commanding performance.

Erik Pieters – 7
Much like O’Shea, the former Stoke defender managed to weather plenty of Burnley storms at Turf Moor. Both he and O’Shea realised when they needed to be commanding and clear dangerous moments from the hosts. However, he will be disappointed with his involvement in Burnely’s equaliser.
Conor Townsend – 6
Both of the Baggies’ fullbacks endured busy evenings and Townsend stood up well to the intense attacking scrutiny from Vincent Kompany’s side. He was rarely beaten one and one and ensured he wasn’t caught out of position.
Jayson Molumby – 7
Excellent night’s work from the midfielder. He marshalled Burnley’s midfield threats brilliantly and formed a good partnership with Yokuslu. Understood when to drop in and help his defence and when to provide some support to the Baggies’ forward-thinking players.
Okay Yokuslu – 8
Yet another composed performance from Yokuslu. Rarely gave the ball away and his positioning was perfect throughout the match. Protected the back four brilliantly and was a large part of the defensive structure which proved to be a key component of the Baggies’ success. Was always in the right place at the right time. Excellent.

John Swift – 6
Wicked ball in for Furlong’s opener. On a night where Albion didn’t dominate possession, he managed to hold his position well and be an asset for Corberan’s side defensively.
Jed Wallace – 6
Bundles of energy from the former Millwall man but he will be disappointed that he couldn’t influence the game slightly more. Looked to drive his team former whenever he could, but this wasn’t a night for Wallace to express himself in an attacking sense. Gave away the vital free-kick for Burnley’s winner.

Daryl Dike – 3
Hard night for Dike playing the lone role up front. Burnley were always going to dominate the ball and it was a tough task chasing the ball for the majority of the evening. However, he had to hold the ball up better when he was given the chance. Needed to do more.
Grady Diangana – 5
Had some bright moments in the first half but failed to make much of an impact on the game. Had to try and make more of an impact on the break for the Baggies. There were a number of chances for them to break, particularly in the second half.
Tom Rogic (on for Swift, 67′) – 6
In other West Brom news, Albion are trying to sign this Brighton player on loan.
