Brighton to send Deniz Undav out on loan, West Brom and Blackburn both interested in deal
Brighton and Hove Albion are willing to send striker Deniz Undav out on loan this month, with plenty of Sky Bet Championship clubs on high alert for his signature, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.
West Brom have been linked with the forward in the past week, with Football League World [18 January] revealing that the Baggies along with a number of other Championship clubs are interested in the German.
Undav has cut a peripheral figure in the high-flying Seagulls team under Roberto De Zerbi, clocking just under 100 minutes of Premier League football under his belt this campaign.
And according to Witcoop, the 26-year-old looks set to depart the Amex Stadium with Brighton willing to let him leave on loan due to the rise and form of youngster Evan Ferguson.
Taking to his personal Twitter account, he tweeted [22 January]: “Brighton will send striker Deniz Undav out on loan and have offered the German to Championship clubs. Blackburn have shown early interest along with West Brom.”
Take the punt
The Baggies’ 2-1 defeat to league leaders Burnley on Friday night [20 January] showed that Carlos Corberan needs further attacking reinforcements if he is to secure an unheralded promotion back into the Premier League next season.
While they started the game off well, Corberan’s men tailed off as the game went on, lacking attacking pressure and verve which ultimately lead to Burnley’s comeback.

The Spaniard simply had no attacking quality to call up, especially when in-form striker Daryl Dike failed to make an impression. It is clear he needs alternatives and Undav seems to fit the bill.
Yes, he’s an unproven quality in the English game, but that’s because he’s rarely given the opportunity to make an impact at Brighton. Though, he’s managed two goals in four starts, featuring prominently in the cup competitions. A loan move could work wonders for both parties.
The Baggies acquire further quality in their striking department, and Undav gets a chance to prove himself under another top manager. No-brainer.
In other West Brom news, a journalist was blown away by this special strike from a Baggies favourite in the 4-0 rout against Chesterfield in the FA Cup.
