Kevin Campbell makes Joe Gelhardt West Brom transfer claim as Championship clubs eye Leeds United attacker
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Campbell doesn’t think Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt would start for West Brom as the Baggies eye a loan move for the 20-year-old.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claim (19 January) Albion are one of a number of Championship clubs who are in pursuit of the former Wigan youngster.
However, Campbell doesn’t think the Baggies will be too concerned if they do miss out on the forward to one of their Championship rivals.

“They don’t necessarily [need Gelhardt], I think West Brom have a really good squad and are strong at the top end of the pitch,” Campbell exclusively told West Brom News.
“I like Gelhardt, I think he’s a really good player but I don’t think West Brom are going to be too worried about whether they get him or not.
“I think they’ve got enough quality in the building to make a go of it. Obviously, they lost the game against Burnley, but Burnley are a good side. They’ve got their sights on the playoffs as a minimum.
“Gelhardt needs to go somewhere where he’s going to start and where he’s going to play football and I don’t see him starting for the Baggies.”

The Baggies are yet to make a January addition, with Carlos Corberan seemingly happy with the current options at his disposal.
However, with a week left in the transfer window, it would not be a surprise to see a loan player potentially arrive to bolster the Baggies’ squad.
In other West Brom news, Albion are trying to sign this Brighton player on loan.
