West Brom boss Carlos Corberan being considered for Everton vacant managerial job
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan is reportedly emerging as an outside contender for the vacant Everton managerial job, according to the Daily Mail (24 January, page 71).
The newspaper has reported in its print edition that Corberan is emerging as a “dark horse” to become the next Toffees manager, after the club sacked Frank Lampard on Monday (23 January).
The Premier League club are also considering Marcelo Bielsa as an option under whom Corberan worked during their time at Leeds United.

Blow
It will be a huge blow for the Baggies if Everton manage to lure Corberan away from the Hawthorns.
Corberan replaced Steve Bruce at a time when the club was battling in the relegation zone. He has injected a new belief in the team, and they are now challenging for the play-offs.
With Corberan, it wouldn’t have been possible. He has got the best out of his squad, and the players have responded to his methods.
The Baggies are 10th in the table but they are only four points behind 3rd-placed Watford. His impressive management in such a short time has caught the attention of Everton.

Now, it’s unrealistic to think that Corberan won’t be tempted to manage a Premier League club of Everton’s stature if there’s an offer on the table.
The lure of managing in the Premier League is too big to reject straightaway.
Having said that, Everton probably won’t take the big gamble of appointing Corberan, rather they will look for someone who has got prior experience managing in the Premier League or a big club elsewhere.
