Everton now in talks with West Brom manager Carlos Corberan after Marcelo Bielsa development
Everton are in talks with Carlos Corberan as they make a move to hire the West Brom manager as Frank Lampard’s successor, according to the Independent.
The news outlet reported via their website on Wednesday night (25 January) that the Toffees have “reached an impasse” in their bid to hire former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa.
It is understood that relegation-threatened Everton, who sacked Lampard on Monday (23 January), have also been in talks with Ralph Hasenhuttl, ex-Baggies boss Sam Allardyce and current Albion manager Corberan, who worked alongside Bielsa at Elland Road.

Independent journalist Miguel Delaney adds that Everton’s process to replace Lampard has so far been “difficult” but they aim to get a new man in charge before the weekend.
Why can’t we have nice things?
That’s Albion, that.
We finally hire a manager who has the backing of all the fans, has an ideology, is clearly a talented young coach and who’s overseen a huge up-turn in form at The Hawthorns.
And within a few months of him being hired to replace Steve Bruce by the Black Country club, it looks as though there’s a chance he could be off.
Corberan would be crazy to accept the job at Goodison.
Everton are a basket case of a club right now and while West Brom aren’t much better, at least things are going well on the pitch.

If Corberan feels he’s been let down by chief executive Ron Gourlay and the ownership over a lack of funds this month, he’d have every right to walk.
Guochuan Lai promised to repay a £5million debt to West Brom at the end of December so that money could be pumped into the squad.
It’s 25 January and that money is still somewhere in East Asia – as far as we’ve been told.
But Everton’s Financial Fair Play issues, their potential relegation, their farce of a board and massive meltdowns in the fanbase doesn’t make Goodison an attractive proposition either.
If Corberan sees West Brom as a stepping stone – and we don’t blame him if he does – there are better stones to leap to than Everton right now.
In other West Brom news, here’s an update on the compensation Albion would be owed if Everton do manage to snap up Corberan.
