Kevin Campbell delivers verdict on Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien amid West Brom links
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Campbell cannot see Lewis O’Brien joining West Brom despite Carlos Corberan reportedly being keen on a reunion with the 24-year-old midfielder.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon revealed (Patreon page on 8 January) the former Huddersfield boss was keen to reunite with O’Brien, who signed for Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022.
However, Campbell believes the 24-year-old has unfinished business at Nottingham Forest and that Steve Cooper is probably wanting to utilise all of his squad in the Premier League.

“He’s a very good player and I can’t see West Brom making that move right now unless Steve Cooper says, ‘okay we’re going to loan you out to get you some game time’,” Campbell exclusively told West Brom News.
“Steve Cooper needs his squad in the Premier League and he’s a good player so I still think he’s got a lot of football left in him at Nottingham Forest. I can’t see that one happening yet.”

If the Baggies were looking to strengthen in the remaining days of the window, another midfielder would probably be the priority. Corberan’s squad have been performing superbly of late and have surged up the Championship table.
O’Brien clearly knows the 39-year-old well and if he did move to The Hawthorns it could well be a smart piece of business from the club. A loan move would seem the most likely move at present, with the financial scenario at the club very much up in the air.
In other West Brom news, Albion are trying to sign this Brighton player on loan.
