The Baggies swiftly moved to snap up [Daily Record, 26 January] the talented 16-year-old forward who was expected to break through at Parkhead after shining within their youth academy.

Despite only signing a contract with the Scottish giants last summer, the Baggies still had an offer accepted for the youngster who starred in the Generation Adidas Cup – a competition for youth players featuring the likes of Manchester United, Flamengo and clubs from the MLS.

Ahead of completing his move to the Hawthorns, the 16-year-old took to his social media account [26 January] to reveal he was at Birmingham New Street train station.

Exciting

The Baggies youth system has needed a refresh for a long while, and acquiring talents such as Sule is both exciting and could well be the start of a new era for the club academy.

It is time the club rejuvenate their youth system and matches many of its Championship counterparts if they are to enjoy a sustainable future. And a refreshing youth model would go a long way to addressing that.

West Brom

West Brom have been on the up in recent months, enjoying a stark renaissance after the arrival of Carlos Corberan and will be hoping Premier League football is on the horizon in the coming months.

But for now, the club must ensure that they are an attractive club to come and develop in the first place and snapping up young talents from a decorated outfit such as Celtic brings much optimism in achieving that ambition.
