West Brom receive loan enquiries for Karlan Grant, want replacement first
West Brom have received enquiries about the loan exit of Karlan Grant before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, but won’t let him leave without a replacement.
Grant was the Baggies top scorer last season as they club struggled in the Championship, and has now found himself on the sidelines under Carlos Corberan this season.
That has seen other clubs come forward for a potential loan transfer for the rest of the season, however according to the Sunday Mirror’s Darren Witcoop, they won’t sanction an exit without a replacement being found first.
“West Bro have fielded loan enquiries for striker Karlan Grant but will only consider sanctioning any deal if a replacement is found,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (30 January).
Depth
While Grant hasn’t been the first-choice attacker in the team this season that he was last year, letting him go would almost certainly be a mistake.
Grant is capable of playing as a striker or as a winger and with Daryl Dike’s previous injury issues, plus the fact that Matty Phillips is out for a while with injury too, we need to be sure that the club aren’t left short in attack.

Corberan has been very selective with his team decisions so far this season, but the results have spoken for themselves up this point.
Having dragged the team up from the bottom of the Championship to playoff contention, we need to find a way now to ensure the team is a strong as possible going into the business end of the season.
Without a replacement, a deal shouldn’t even be considered, and it’s good to hear that the club are on the same page when it comes to any late deal.
In other West Brom news, permanent deal not ruled out as club locked in talks for last-ditch signing.
