West Brom in ‘driving seat’ to land Chelsea wonderkid Omari Hutchinson
West Brom are now in the “driving seat” to land Chelsea wonderkid Omari Hutchinson, according to The Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella.
Kinsella had previously suggested (via Twitter) on Tuesday that Wigan were also in the hunt for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder.
However, it’s since been suggested that members of the Baggies’ current squad now believe Hutchinson will join the Baggies in order to help their playoff push.
“West Brom in the driving seat, many of the squad already believe that he will join to help the squad to reach the playoffs,” wrote Kinsella (via Twitter, 31 January).
Ideal
A loan player coming through the door was exactly what Carlos Corberan would’ve been after. The 19-year-old is a complete unknown quantity, but he could well prove to be an excellent addition. Added squad depth is what the Spaniard is looking for and Hutchinson could be a good option to utilise in the second half of the season.
The games come thick and fast in the run-in with injuries and fatigue likely to play their part as the season edges closer to its conclusion. From Hutchinson’s perspective, the move makes a lot of sense. It gives him his first taste of men’s football in a side which is performing well.

Had he moved to Wigan Athletic, there would’ve been a chance of the 19-year-old being embroiled in a relegation battle, and at this stage in his career, that would have been far from ideal.
This is definitely one for The Hawthorns’ faithful to get excited about if the Baggies can get a deadline-day deal over the line.
In other West Brom news, surgery news from the manager has come as a major blow to the Baggies’ season
