Finance Expert: West Brom take step in right direction with Ron Gourlay move
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Brom columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns...
Dan Plumley has insisted that West Brom have finally taken a step in the right direction as Ron Gourlay made the decision to meet with concerned fans.
The Finance Expert admitted it sometimes takes a crisis to bring change and with the relationship that bad in the first place, the club are starting from nothing to repair that with fans.
The Daily Mail has reported that Gourlay met with fans to discuss matters regarding Guochuan Lai and the loans that have been taken out by the club.

“Absolutely it is needed,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“It’s a step in the right direction. Sometimes it takes a real crisis to change the course of action doesn’t it and we’ve certainly seen that at West Brom.
“The relationship was that bad, you’re virtually starting from nothing to repair that, so there is a long way to go but certainly the first signs of positive action to be able to start to repair some of those relationships.
“As you say, it’s needed, it needs to happen and more of it needs to happen moving forward.”

This may be a step in the right direction, but it is the tiniest step ever made.
It has been years coming and one little meeting with the fans will not change anyone’s mind at The Hawthorns, especially after the loans that have been taken.
Lai still needs to repay his £4.95million loan with £50,000 and then the MSD Holdings loan on top of that have only added even more questions about the finances of the club.
This is the first step, but there are many more to come.
In other West Brom news, red flags have appeared yet again as Guochuan Lai looks to have missed his loan repayment deadline
