Darren Bent warns West Brom coach Carlos Corberan not to take Leeds United job
TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has said it would be “awful” for West Brom boss Carlos Coberan to leave the Hawthorns and replace Jesse Marsch at Leeds United.
The Whites sacked [Sky Sports, 7 February] Marsch on Monday, following a dreadful run of results in the Premier League winning just twice in his 17 matches.
And according to reports in the Daily Mail [7 February], the Spaniard who was appointed at the Hawthorns in October is actually considering leaving the Baggies and returning to Elland Road where he worked under Marcelo Bielsa.

Speaking on talkSPORT radio [6 February, 17m:15s], Bent expressed his disdain at the reports and warned Corberan against taking the job.
He said: “That would be awful if he did that. If he left West Brom after just getting the job, getting them out of the fire, getting them on the verge of the playoffs, to leave them now.”
Tempting
It will be an incredibly tough decision for Corberan if the Whites do come calling, following his successful spell as under-21 manager at Thorp Arch and his time under Bielsa’s wing at Elland Road.
It is a very tempting and attractive proposition for him to take on the job in the Barclays Premier League, and further, solidifying his status as one of the country’s most talented up-and-coming coaches.

However, we believe that it will be too soon for Corberan to jump ship just yet. He’s undergoing a terrific renaissance at the Hawthorns, helping the club climb from the relegation spots into playoff contention in just a matter of months.
A stay in the west Midlands won’t do his reputation any harm than it would if he jumped ship. He’s built a good rapport and trust with the Baggies faithful and must maintain that.
The English top-flight is an attractive place to coach for any young manager, but Corberan must continue the work he’s doing at West Brom and more crucially, continue to develop his trade in the Championship before moving on to bigger and better things.
In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened recently and may even leave for free.
