Nigel Quashie makes plea to West Brom on behalf of fans amid Carlos Corberan to Leeds United speculation
Everyone at West Brom must do “everything” to keep Carlos Corberan on behalf of the fans, according to former Albion player Nigel Qashie.
The Hawthorns boss has emerged as a candidate to take the vacant manager’s role at his former club Leeds United, after Jesse Marsch was sacked on Monday (6 February).
But in light of the “incredible job” the Spaniard has done since replacing Steven Bruce in October Quashie has made a plea to those in charge to keep the 39-year-old in place for a promotion push.
Posting on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday (7 February) the former Baggies midfielder wrote: “Talk of Carlos Corberán linked to Leeds United. He’s done an incredible job with this squad at WBA.
“If WBA have any chance of going up this season via the playoffs then he’s the man. Everyone inside the club do everything to keep him, these supporters deserve that!”
Cling on
Quashie is absolutely right, the club should be doing everything in their power to ensure the manager stays in place.
The massive upturn in form since the former Huddersfield and Olympiakos boss took over shows that in the right hands this West Brom squad can go places.
Okay Yokuslu, Tom Rogic and Kyle Bartley are just some of the players who have looked transformed once Corberan took over from Bruce, and were he to leave the playing staff could regress again.

Baggies fans want to return to the Premier League as soon as possible, and the evidence of this season suggests the best chance of that happening is with the current set up.
There may be others who can get the job done, but after two poor appointments in Valerien Ismael and Bruce the hierarchy finally got it right.
It would open up the risk that they make the wrong move if they are pushed into finding a fourth manager since the club left the top flight.
Corberan has taken charge of 16 games in all competitions and won 11, and has taken the club from 23rd to sixth in the Championship, which is obviously going to attract attention from Elland Road but those at the Hawthorns can’t let that record walk away already.
In other West Brom news, the manager might be prepared to accept an offer to leave.
