West Brom will consider Darren Moore if Carlos Corberan leaves for Leeds United

Darren Moore will reportedly be one of the first names the West Brom hierarchy thinks of if Carlos Corberan leaves for Leeds United.

According to the Daily Mail [6 February], they will assess all their options, but Moore, as a former manager and player with over 100 games for the club, will be at the forefront of their thinking.

Corberan is understood to be the leading candidate to take over the Elland Road hot seat after Jesse Marsch was sacked by Leeds.

Rolling back the years

Moore took over the Baggies job back when they were in the Premier League and just got six games to manage in the top flight.

However, his record wasn’t all that bad for a team that finished last in the league as they lost just one game and won three.

In the Championship, he was sacked when West Brom were fourth and that did raise some eyebrows at the time but he’s gone on to redeem himself elsewhere.

His Sheffield Wednesday side are unbeaten in 22 games as they find themselves at the top of League One and they’ve kept 17 clean sheets this season.

Of course, the Championship is a different kettle of fish but he’s also on the cusp of taking his side to the fifth round of the FA Cup which is impressive for a third tier team.

The Baggies must keep their options open in case Corberan leaves and we do not see Moore’s appointment being taken badly by the fans either as it does make sense to bring him back.

In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened recently and may even leave for free.
