Jeff Stelling predicts result of West Brom clash v Blackburn for Sky Sports

Jeff Stelling has predicted West Brom will come out on top in their clash against Championship promotion rivals Blackburn Rovers and take all three points on Wednesday night (15 February).

The Baggies arrive into the match on the back of a dismal 2-0 defeat to local rivals Birmingham City, and Carlos Corberan will be looking for an instant reaction at the Hawthorns.

Making his Super 6 predictions for Sky Sports, pundit Stelling revealed he thought Corberan’s side would get back to winning ways and come out 2-0 victors in front of their home support.

West Brom

Blackburn are currently sitting a point above West Brom in the Championship table and arrive into the game on three consecutive draws in the Championship, and only one point off the top-six playoff spots.

Alex Palmer will likely remain out for West Brom until the March international break, while experienced duo Matt Phillips and Kyle Bartley will both likely be missing for Corberan’s match-day squad as well.

Reaction needed

West Brom were really poor against Birmingham City, and supporters will expect an instant reaction to that loss.

In such an important game in terms of league position, and the direct rivalry with the Blues, Corberan’s side stumbled out of the blocks and never looked at home throughout. There was a desperate lack of creativity, while David Button came under scrutiny for his role in trying to stop both goals.

A few changes could be in store for the Baggies on Wednesday night due to this dire performance last time out, with Brandon Thomas Asante chomping at the bit for game time ahead of Daryl Dike and Nathaniel Chalobah still awaiting his first start.

Either way, this clash against Blackburn is huge from a mentality standpoint. A win against a close rival can reignite the park that Corberan had lit at the West Midlands, while a loss will see the Baggies slip that little bit further back in the Championship promotion chase.

In other West Brom news, Corberan opened up on the future of Karlan Grant after his Swansea January transfer collapsed on deadline day.
