Sky Sports pundit predicts scoreline of West Brom v Blackburn Rovers

West Brom will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they take on play-off rivals Blackburn Rovers in the Championship at the Hawthorns on Wednesday (15 February).

The Baggies lost 2-0 against Birmingham City in their previous game, and David Prutton has said that it was as poor as he has seen under Carlos Corberan so far.

The Sky Sports pundit, however, predicts a 1-0 win for the Baggies, as he feels Corberan’s side can turn it around against Rovers who are without a win in their last four games.

West Brom

“That was probably as poor as I’ve seen West Brom under Carlos Corberan at Birmingham on Friday night. But this is a chance to put things right quickly against another play-off rival,” said Prutton on Sky Sports.

“It is so typical that Blackburn could go 27 games without one and now they’ve drawn three in a row. Will it be a fourth? They’d take it at The Hawthorns, but this is a home win for me.”

Must win

This is a must-win game for the Baggies. Rovers are struggling a bit at the moment, and this is the best opportunity for them to beat their rivals and return to winning ways at the same time.

The previous game was a real shocker. The Baggies were completely outplayed by Birmingham, and it felt like the players struggled to adjust to the tactics of the manager.

The Baggies moved away from their typical back three and operated in a 4-4-2 diamond. Corberan has himself admitted that his players need to adapt better to changing tactics.

West Brom

To be fair, despite conceding from two set-piece goals, thanks to costly mistakes from goalkeeper David Button, the Baggies actually defended really well.

The problem was they just couldn’t produce more attacking threats and thereby didn’t trouble the Birmingham backline enough.

It came as a real surprise, as the Baggies are usually an attacking side under Corberan, and probably the players failed to respond to the diamond system.

Hopefully, they will learn from their mistakes and pick up all three points.
