Hollywood actor sends message to Jed Wallace after ‘head in your hands’ reaction to West Brom defeat at Watford

Actor and West Brom fan Matthew Marsden backed Jed Wallace to keep his head up after the winger’s disappointed reaction to defeat at Watford.

The Baggies man scored the second equaliser in the madcap 3-2 loss at Vicarage Road on Monday (20 February), as the club dropped more points in their quest for a play-off place.

Following the game, which was settled by an unfortunate Erik Pieters own goal, Wallace admitted in comments posted on the club’s Twitter account “you’ve got your head in your hands” after the “majorly disappointing” result.

But Hollywood man Marsden hailed the former Millwall attacker for his play this year and sent an encouraging message.

Responding to the interview on Twitter the Black Hawk Down actor wrote: “You have been our best player this season. Keep your head up, bud.

“Oh… and that nutmeg? Hope you got the video of it.”

Backing

The defeat to Watford was unfortunate to say the least, with all five goals coming as a result of errors or uncontrolled bounces in the penalty areas.

Despite a poor first half Carlos Corberan’s side came out and performed after the break, coming back into the game well enough to take at least a point, and it was crushing for an own goal to be the winner.

That it has come during the worst run of form since the manager took over makes it all the more of a kick in the teeth for the fans, and clearly for Wallace.

West Brom

The loss to Birmingham was poor, but West Brom were moments from bouncing back with a win before an 89th-minute leveller from Blackburn in the previous outing.

It is now eight points from nine dropped, and definite ground lost in the race for the play-off places, despite the past two matches having an element of misfortune.

But Wallace has done virtually everything he could this season, having been the standout player even during the dark days of Steve Bruce’s final weeks in charge.

If Corberan can get a win against Middlesbrough next time out it would stabilise the current wobble, but the pressure is certainly now on.

In other West Brom news, the club might not be out of the woods yet with more Premier League interest in the manager.
