West Brom board hailed by Sky Sports pundit after Carlos Corberan development in February
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Campbell has hailed the West Brom board for handing Carlos Corberan a new contract earlier this month when he was strongly linked with the job at Leeds United.
After the Yorkshire club sacked Jesse Marsch, it was widely reported that Corberan – a former coach at Elland Road – was wanted to replace the American.
However, Albion moved fast to tie Corberan down to a new deal, confirming on 7 February that he’d agreed a new deal at The Hawthorns, lasting until the summer of 2027.

Campbell believes it was a big move by Corberan to pen a new deal at the Albion when Leeds were reportedly trying to hire him.
He’s also praised Ron Gourlay and the rest of the hierarchy at The Hawthorns for removing any doubt over Corberan’s immediate future in the Black Country.
“I thought it was a strong move by the West Brom board to offer the manager a new contract,” Campbell told West Brom News.

“It just quelled any murmurings or any unrest amongst the fanbase.
“It’ll be easy for Corberan to be drawn to Leeds – they’re a huge club. But he’s committed to his job at West Brom.
“I thought it was a really smart move.”
Corberan took charge of the Baggies on 25 October and has since taken the club from the Championship’s relegation zone to within a whisker of the play-off spots.
In other West Brom news, Albion have completed an under-the-radar singing after a player was spotted at The Hawthorns with his new club’s kit.
