Carlos Corberan could quit West Brom despite signing new contract amid fresh West Ham United talk – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Despite signing a new contract at West Brom earlier this month, Kevin Campbell believes there’s still a chance Carlos Corberan could be lured away by a club like West Ham.

David Moyes is under increasing pressure at the London Stadium after the Hammers dropped into the Premier League’s relegation zone last weekend.

On Monday (20 February), The Guardian reported that Corberan, 39, is viewed as a “future target” by the Hammers, who are looking for potential replacements for Moyes.

Corberan was strongly linked with the job at Leeds United at the start of February before he eventually put pen to paper on a new contract that runs until the summer of 2027.

However, Campbell admits that in football, contracts aren’t as big a show of commitment as they seem.

“He could [still leave] because sometimes, contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re written on,” Campbell told West Brom News.

But the fact that he committed to West Brom, I don’t think he’d go for [the West Ham job].

They could be a Premier League club next season.”

Corberan has done an incredible job at The Hawthorns since replacing Steve Bruce at the Black Country club in October.

The former Huddersfield manager has led the Baggies from the Championship’s relegation zone to what now looks like a credible promotion bid via the playoffs.

As it stands, Albion are 10th in the league but are only five points shy of the top six.

In other West Brom news, Albion have completed an under-the-radar singing after a player was spotted at The Hawthorns with his new club’s kit.
