West Brom fans hold peaceful protest against Guochuan Lai after win v Middlesbrough

West Brom fans held a peaceful protest outside The Hawthorns against owner Guoachuan Lai after the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday (25 February).

The Baggies picked up a massive three points thanks to Daryl Dike’s first half brace, beating Michael Carrick’s in-form side, leaving them five points off the playoff spots.

But fans didn’t waste the opportunity to protest against Lai, and took to Halfords Lane after the final whistle to let it be known that they want the owner out of the club.

“Your Albion needs you,” wrote Action for Albion on their Twitter page.

“We finally have a 3pm kick off, so join us for a peaceful protest on the Halfords Lane after the final whistle and let your voices be heard. With media coverage arranged, we have a chance to make a real impact.”

Be loud

Fans have a chance to make a real racket here and get the attention of the mainstream media as to the state the club is in.

With all the talks about what bad owners the Qataris would make at Manchester United for example, there seems to be little coverage about the bad owners that are already in a position of power like Lai.

West Brom

On the pitch things have turned around in recent months since the arrival of Carlos Corberan to the club, and the win today showed the direction that we’re going in is the right one.

But the man to oversee that all has to change, because Lai simply isn’t fit to run and own a football club with the financial mess he has got himself and the club in.

We need promotion to find a way to be secure in coming years, and hopefully this protest can be the beginning of the end for his run as owner of this great football club.

In other West Brom news, the fans are demanding a meeting with the owner as questions about a £5m loan refuse to go away.
