West Brom confirmed XI vs Wigan Athletic
Carlos Corberan has named his West Brom starting line-up for their Championship clash against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday, 7 March.
The Baggies will be looking to return back to winning ways after their disappointing and damaging 2-1 defeat to Hull City on Friday night [3 March] which left them seven points outside the playoff places.
Albion enter this contest with several injury issues in attack, with Express and Star journalist Lewis Cox sharing on Twitter [2 March] that forward Grady Diangana could be set to miss the rest of the season with a foot ligament blow.
Karlan Grant is also expected to be out for 4-6 weeks with a quad injury.
As confirmed via the club’s official Twitter account [7 March], Corberan has decided to stick with the same team which lost to Hull City on Friday. Daryl Dike keeps his place up front, with Marc Albrighton, John Swift and Jed Wallace continuing behind him in attack.
Three points needed
The Baggies’ hopes of securing a Championship playoff place are seriously fading after Friday’s defeat to Hull City. the club’s away form recently is a huge worry, especially after they comfortably beat high-flying Middlesborough before Friday which should have handed them a big confidence boost.
Seven points from the top six means it is a big ask for Corberan and his men to secure those spots now, and they are expected to close the gap tonight against relegation-threatened Wigan.

However, despite the club’s tremendous home form under the Spaniard, it won’t be an easy ride this evening. Wigan have lost just once in six games since Shaun Maloney took over from Kolo Toure in January.
They are really difficult to beat these days, and considering the damaging injuries to Diangana and Grant, Corberan’s attacking weaponry is seriously reducing in quality. The onus is on the likes of Dike, Wallace and Swift to deliver the spark and potency they need to jump back into the playoff picture.
Tonight is a huge chance to close that worrying seven-point gap.
