Dara O’Shea: West Brom fans help us ‘massively’ when The Hawthorns is buzzing

Dara O’Shea has revealed how important the West Brom fans are ahead of the club’s final 10 matches of the Championship season.

Carlos Corberan’s men are currently three points outside of the play-off positions and face Cardiff City away in South Wales on Wednesday night (15 March).

Ahead of the trip to the Welsh capital, O’Shea sent out a message to fans to tell them how vital they can be in the coming weeks as the Albion seek a surprise promotion back to the Premier League.

“Home support is massive for us and we don’t underestimate that. It’s so important to have the fans backing you in games,” O’Shea said, as quoted by the Express & Star.

“It’s coming towards the end of the season now and we’re in a position where we need to keep pushing and the fans can play a massive part in that.

“When The Hawthorns is buzzing it gives us a huge push as a team and we can feel it as players. It helps us massively.

“We need to do what we need to do on the pitch, quite clearly, but the fans can really help us too.”

It’s time to ramp up the noise

It’s been a season full of twists and turns for the Albion, with the club slowly but steadily climbing the Championship table after a difficult start to the campaign.

Away from the league, fans of the club will have undoubtedly wanted to enjoy a cup run this season, but exits in the second round of the League Cup and fourth round of the FA Cup quickly put those dreams to an end.

It may, however, have been a blessing in disguise for West Brom, who have used the lack of distractions to focus solely on the Championship.

And The Hawthorns has played a significant role in the current campaign, with the club picking up 35 points from their 19 home matches, compared to just 19 points from their 17 away games.

O’Shea’s call to arms comes at an important time, with the match against 21st-placed Cardiff set to be viewed as a must-win encounter that could see the Baggies rise further up the standings.
