West Brom star Daryl Dike sends loving message ahead of USA double-header

West Brom striker Daryl Dike has shared that he is “loving life” at The Albion as he heads to the USA to join up with his international teammates.

Dike has been named in Anthony Hudson’s 24-player squad for the upcoming Concacaf Nations League matches against Grenada and El Salvador.

The striker scored his fourth goal in five games in West Brom’s final match before the impending international break, netting in the 1-1 draw at Cardiff on Wednesday (15 March).

Dike has proven himself in the Championship this season, with his fine form earning him a call-up for his nation alongside a handful of world-class players.

The striker has an impressive record for his nation, scoring three goals from his eight appearances, all of which arrived in 2021.

“Been loving life at West Brom, now it’s time for camp,” Dike Tweeted from New York.

Starting role?

Dike has been in fine form for the Albion, recovering from a thigh issue in the early stages of the season to score seven goals in 19 league matches.

Alongside Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner, Dike was handed his first USA cap in Orlando in the 7-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in January 2021, according to the USA official website.

The forward is now seeking his first cap since the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Final win against Mexico. And given his record in front of goal lately, he may just get it.

Not only that, but Dike is the only recognised striker in the attacking roster. Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, Borussia Dortmund’s Gio Reyna, Lille’s Tim Weah, Utrecht’s Taylor Booth and Club America’s Alex Zendejas are all used to playing elsewhere in attack for their respective clubs, primarily out wide.

It means Dike is in line to start should Hudson opt to play a system that involves such a role unless one of the aforementioned wingers are chosen to lead the line.

In other West Brom news, Sky Sports reporter Abigail Davies was blown away by Jed Wallace after he produced a “superb” first-half pass against Cardiff.
