West Brom can end season in special circumstances as must-win fixture approaches for Carlos Corberan

By Matthew Chadder

West Brom sit just five points behind Millwall in the play-off places with a game in hand as they get set to face the London side.

The Baggies have just nine league games left in this Championship season with promotion to the Premier League still a real possibility.

Sixth place is within catching distance for West Brom in a tight battle for play-off places, with Norwich City, Coventry, and Watford all hunting down that top six as well.

However, a win against Millwall could give them a real edge going into the business end of the season as it would leave them just two points behind the Lions with a game in hand still to play.

The club have just two games remaining against sides currently above them in the table which will give them real confidence that they could put a run together and push for a return to the Premier League after relegation two years ago.

Promotion push

Despite currently sitting ninth in the Championship, West Brom’s chances at promotion are still very much alive.

The Baggies will need to avoid inconsistency, something which has troubled them all season, and put a run together in order to crack that top six however there is no reason why they cannot do that.

A win against Millwall is a must and if achieved, Carlos Corberan’s side will be able to take that momentum into the rest of the season.

West Brom

The home form is positive with just four losses there all season and, according to stats provided by footystats, a points per game of 1.84 at the Hawthorns.

West Brom have made The Hawthorns a fortress in recent months with an unbeaten run at home which stretches back to 1 November when they beat Blackpool 1-0.

This will be key in the game against Millwall as West Brom look to close the gap.

It took the club until October to record their first win in the Championship this season which would make a potential finish in the play-off spaces even more bit special.

In other West Brom news, the club are open to takeover offers as they away Lai paying back his £5m loan.
