West Brom campaigner invited to 10 Downing Street, wants to speak to Rishi Sunak about Guochuan Lai

Action for Albion campaigner Ali Jones has been invited to 10 Downing Street to voice his concerns over the current behind-the-scenes situation at West Brom.

Baggies fans have been making their voices heard on Guochuan Lai in recent weeks as discontent begins to grow over the financial issues at The Hawthorns.

Action for Albion have since confirmed (21 March) that Jones has been invited to speak to the Sports Minister and potentially Prime Minister Rishi Sunak about the club’s issues.

“We’re glad to say that for appreciation of the work undertaken by AFA, Ali Jones has been invited to 10 Downing Street tomorrow as a Community Champion,” they wrote (via Twitter).

“This will give us the opportunity to speak to the Sports Minister and the Prime Minister (possibly) about the issues facing our club.

“Thank you all again for your support. Up the Baggies.”

Well in

This is seriously impressive work by the campaign group and they must not stop. Lai’s running of the club has been shameful and Albion are very close to joining a long list of EFL clubs that have endured financial difficulties. Sheffield Wednesday, Derby, Portsmouth, Wigan, Reading and Bolton are just a handful of teams that have been impacted by incompetent ownership in recent years.

Until something different happens at the very top of the game, nothing will change. Clubs are being allowed to spend money at will, with the hope of breaking into the Premier League. Even Sheffield United, currently at the top of the Championship, are being threatened with administration.

West Brom

There’s a hell of a lot riding on the Baggies’ 2022/23 season. Promotion, and the finances that come with it, could be absolutely vital. It’s a financial boost which could see Albion avoid falling into serious trouble come the start of next season.

In other West Brom news, the club are open to takeover offers as they away Lai paying back his £5m loan.
