Ally Robertson: West Brom can springboard promotion chances with Millwall win in Championship
Former West Brom legend Ally Robertson believes victory over Millwall this weekend can ignite Carlos Corberan’s side into late Championship play-off contenders.
The Baggies currently sit five points off the top six with nine games of their Championship season remaining, with a mammoth home clash against sixth-placed Millwall the first obstacle to overcome this Saturday (1 April).
As reported by the Express and Star, Ex-Baggies defender Robertson, who recorded 626 appearances for the club, admitted that three points this weekend could springboard the club forward and ensure that they make the required points to make the promotion places this season.

“If we start off with a win against Millwall next and keep everything going, lifting the spirit and keeping it up, then we will get there,” he said.
“It can go either way because you’ve not played together for a little while, it can take time to get going, but other times it just clicks into gear and you go on a run.
“We’ve got nine games, it’s about getting on a run. If we can get to a good performance level and keep it there, it will get us to the playoffs and get us there in good form.
“We’ve got to do so well to get into the top six, so if we can do that, then when it gets to the play-off knockouts then we’ve got a chance.”

Down to the wire
West Brom will certainly have to register a very strong run of form to challenge for the playoffs this season after several minor blips in recent weeks.
Although results like the draw against Cardiff City may not look horrendous on the face of things, when delving into the consequences, they really can have a huge impact.
With the Baggies sitting five points off the top six they will probably have to rely on other teams dropping points at crucial junctures as well as riding a wave of momentum themselves.
The best way to start this late surge for promotion is with a victory against promotion-chasing Millwall this weekend.
If Corberan can claim The Lions’ scalp, he then faces three favourable fixtures against relegation-threatened Rotherham and QPR, as well as a trip to Stoke City.
As Robertson stated, a fast start is imperative to any Premier League dreams at the end of the season.
In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened and may even leave for free.
