Irish FA wowed by Jayson Molumby as West Brom ace shines despite 1-0 loss v France
The Irish Football Association was wowed by West Brom midfielder Jayson Molumby in Ireland’s loss against France on Monday (27 March).
Molumby started and played 86 minutes in the Euro 2024 qualifying 1-0 loss in Dublin, before being replaced by Michael Obafemi.
West Brom’s Molumby came up against world-class midfielders Adrien Rabiot and Eduardo Camavinga in the narrow defeat, and has earned huge praise from the Irish FA for his display.

“This man,” the Irish FA stated on Twitter. “What a performance.”
The Albion midfielder was making his 19th Ireland appearance, having earned his first call-up to the senior squad in August 2020.
Impressing in the middle
Ireland have been handed a very difficult Euro 2024 qualifying group, with the Netherlands, Greece and Gibraltar completing Group B.
It may be one loss from one game, but Molumby and Co. can hold their heads high for their superb performance against the 2022 World Cup finalists.
And it is something that Molumby can take back to West Brom when he returns to club duty, with the midfielder gaining huge experience from taking on various world stars.
He will have learned a lot from the match in Dublin, and will continue to learn against the likes of top-class Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong when they meet later on in the group.
Molumby’s club teammate and compatriot Dara O’Shea can also take plenty of inspiration from taking on the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, and more importantly keeping them very quiet on the evening.
Molumby is set to be a regular in manager Stephen Kenny’s midfield for many years to come, with the pair having also worked together for the country’s under-21s.
In other West Brom news, one news organisation has cancelled its Albion coverage, but has made a Guochuan Lai promise.
