West Brom injury news: Carlos Corberan reveals Dara O’Shea ruled out for remainder of season with injury

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has revealed that Dara O’Shea is likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, while Jayson Molumby is expected to be sidelined for four weeks.

As reported by Birmingham Live, the Baggies manager shared that both first-team players had picked up injuries in the Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 defeat to France on Monday (27 March).

Despite this double blow to West Brom’s promotion chances, Corberan did confirm that Kyle Bartley was in first-team training, while Daryl Dike and Semi Ajax were in “positive conditions”.

On O’Shea and Molumby, he said: “Unfortunately we had the bad news with Molumby and O’Shea, because both players have arrived from the national team with injury.

“Molumby is going to be out of the group for the next four weeks, because he has a muscle problem in the groin. In the game versus France, he felt something before the game and he played the game in the way especially Molumby plays, but he didn’t feel a lot.

“O’Shea, in the game, suffered a kick in the knee and he’s not going to play any of the games we play until the end of the season – that’s around seven weeks out of the squad.”

Huge blow

The injury to O’Shea couldn’t have come at a worse time for Corberan, who will now have to shuffle his troops and make do without the influential centre-back for the club’s push for the playoff places.

O’Shea has been a mainstay in the Spaniard’s plans since arriving at The Hawthorns earlier this season, and he will be greatly missed in the heart of the Baggies’ defence.

Alongside Molumby and the likes of absentees Dike and Bartley, the West Brom boss hasn’t been dealt a hand for the crucial clash against promotion rivals Millwall this weekend.

The Spaniard will hope that Bartley’s return to the first team isn’t another false peak in his journey back from a long-term injury and that the Englishman can step into the void left by O’Shea.

Bartley will have some big boots to fill over the coming weeks, but the 31-year-old has the experience and the leadership qualities to rise to the occasion.

In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened and may even leave for free.
