EFL reporter raves about West Brom ace Brandon Thomas-Asante who was a ‘handful’ v Millwall
West Brom ace Brandon Thomas-Asante was a “handful” for the Millwall defence during the Championship draw between the two clubs on Saturday (1 April), according to reporter Sue Thearle.
Thomas-Asante finished a fine solo run in the 53rd minute with a thunderous strike, with the ball narrowly firing past the target in the goalless draw.
The attacker nor his teammates could not find a breakthrough in the end though, with the must-win match ending 0-0 at The Hawthorns.

“Brandon Thomas-Asante was certainly a handful for the visiting defence,” Thearle reported for English Football League Highlights on ITVX (19m26s). “But despite his best efforts, the Millwall goal remained intact.”
West Brom’s official Twitter account also focused on the fine strike, posting: “BTA is played the ball with two defenders around him, he cuts onto his right foot and fires a wicked effort which goes inches wide.”
Opportunity missed
The result sees Carlos Corberan’s side sit ninth in the Championship table, five points off the playoff spots.
While a point is undoubtedly a good result against playoff-chasing Millwall, Corberan will be disappointed not to have picked up all three points at home.
The Albion are on a superb run at the Hawthorns, going into the game against Millwall on a 10-match unbeaten home streak, winning nine of those matches.
Not many points separate the clubs in the playoff spots and just outside them, meaning every point will count from now until the end of the season.
Thomas-Asante came close with his thunderous effort, leading the line amid the place on the bench for Daryl Dike, who had just returned back from international duty with the USA.
But the attacker could not hit the target with the shot, which would have smashed into the back of the net had it been just fractionally more accurate.
In other West Brom news, Corberan has revealed that Dara O’Shea is likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
