West Brom injury news as Jayson Molumby taking painkilling injections

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan paid tribute to Jayson Molumby after he took painkilling injections to play against Stoke on Saturday, according to the Express and Star.

The Republic of Ireland international midfielder was the man for the moment in more ways than one on Saturday as his goals made the difference in a crucial victory.

The Baggies came from behind to secure three precious points to cut the gap on Blackburn Rovers in sixth place to just three points.

Corberan was effusive in his praise for the player, for his attitude as well as his impact in the Potteries.

“I think the personality and the goals that he has are very huge,” said the Spanish coach.

“The commitment that he has with himself, with the club, with the team, he was playing today with a lot of pain in the ankle.

“He was having to have an injection to play today, yesterday he couldn’t complete training, only half, but he is going to make a career because he has the determination to make it.

“Some people with adversity – they give up. Molumby is not going to do that.”

Things are looking up

The 23-year-old can be proud that he was the catalyst for the win on Saturday with his spirit showing what can be achieved. He showed guts with his resilience and was rewarded with the glory of the goals.

Now, just a few days after Corberan poured scorn on table talk, the playoff places are looming.

Yes, there was a disappointment on Saturday with the injury to Daryl Dike but the win over Stoke will have provided a much needed morale boost for the squad, as well as the supporters.

The final five games of the regular season start with the trip to face struggling Blackpool on Tuesday night where another win would illuminate the prospects of snatching a playoff place.

It will go right to the wire with up to eight clubs ready to battle it out to secure the fifth and sixth spot in the Championship table which are still realistically, in contention.
