West Brom star Daryl Dike sends upbeat message after devastating injury blow
West Brom striker Daryl Dike has shared an update with fans amid the news that he is set for a lengthy layoff with an Achilles injury.
The American international was stretched off the pitch against Stoke after falling awkwardly on his ankle in the first half of the match on Saturday (15 April).
He is now expected to miss “six to nine months” as surgery is needed to repair the injury, as per the official West Brom website.

“Words cannot be made to describe how I feel right now,” Dike posted on Instagram. “Beyond gutted for this injury as it feels like nothing I do can seem to go my way at the moment.
“It is easy to feel sorry for yourself and ask ‘why me,’ but unfortunately injuries are part of my sport. Thankfully, I am given strength by God and the support from family, friends and fans who continue to push me every day.
“In life things will happen that are beyond your control despite your best efforts, that you cannot go back and change, but need to accept and choose how to react. Now is my time to bounce back and give myself a positive reaction. Thank you all for everything.”

Devastating blow
Dike has already missed a large chunk of the campaign with a thigh injury, with the striker regularly among the goals upon his return to the pitch.
But now in a massive blow to the player, manager Carlos Corberan and all the West Brom supporters, the striker is set for another very lengthy spell on the sidelines.
It is massively bad luck for the American international, who was set to play a key role in the club’s search for a playoff place this season.
But that battle will have to be fought without Dike, with Brandon Thomas-Asante perhaps now the man expected to lead the line in the matches to come.
And it isn’t even just the remainder of this season that the Baggies have to worry about, with Dike expected to miss a large part of next season with the nasty injury.
The popular figure around The Hawthorns will hopefully make a full recovery as soon as possible.
In other West Brom news, Corberan has played down “ridiculous” talk of where the Albion are placed in the Championship standings.
