Kyle Bartley West Brom return update shared ahead of Sunderland Championship clash

Kyle Bartley could make his return to West Brom action in the Baggies’ game in hand against Sheffield United, according to the Express and Star.

The veteran defender has been sidelined with a hamstring injury and missed Albion’s 2-0 win over Blackpool on Tuesday 18 April.

However, The Express and Star now suggest (20 April) the 31-year-old could return against the Blades but will miss this weekend’s fixture against Sunderland.

It’s also believed the Baggies are assessing Okay Yokuslu with the Turkish midfielder nursing a niggling ankle injury at present.

Bartley has been in good form since Carlos Corberan’s arrival and his return will certainly aid Albion’s playoff push. West Brom are just one point outside the top six after Blackburn Rovers dropped points against Coventry City on Wednesday evening (19 April).

Back-to-back wins mean the Baggies are right back in contention and their impeccable timing could well be the key to their playoff berth being secured. We often see teams make late surges for the top six and secure promotion. The Albion’s run-in is certainly testing; even the final day trip to Swansea looks like a tricky encounter.

Corberan will be desperate for Yokuslu to return to the Baggies’ midfield for the weekend fixture against Sunderland. The 29-year-old’s experience could well be invaluable. Jayson Molumby and Nathaniel Chalobah have been excellent in recent games, but, nevertheless, Yokuslu’s presence will provide Corberan with a welcome selection dilemma.

Three more points before the trip to Bramall Lane is a must to keep the playoff pursuit well and truly alive.

In other West Brom news, Daryl Dike has sent fans a message after his most recent injury.
