Don Goodman stunned by what he saw in West Brom loss to Sunderland live on Sky Sports
Don Goodman was stunned by the quality of Sunderland’s winning goal as they claimed a 2-1 win over West Brom on Sunday afternoon (23 April).
The Baggies took the lead in the first-half through a John Swift penalty and missed a host of chances, as the Black Cats came from behind thanks to a brace by left-back Dennis Cirkin.
And while speaking on commentary live on Sky Sports (23 April, 13:45), Goodman admitted that it was a “simply sensational” goal from the visitors.
“I can’t believe what I’ve just seen and I shouldn’t really be surprised because I’ve seen Sunderland score two of the best passing and moving goals that I’ve seen all season,” he said.
“The other week against Hull, earlier this season against Reading and that is exactly what they’re all about.
“They haven’t got a big striker, they can’t just toss it in. They have to pass it, move it quickly, get it right. When they do, things of beauty like that can happen.
“It is simply sensational passing and movement football.”
Horrible
There are ways to lose football matches and if a fan could choose the best way to do that, they’d probably pick this.
It’s a wonderful team goal that the defence and team can’t really do too much about for the most part, and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up to the performance of the opposition.

As for our playoff hopes, they have taken a hit but are far from over after other results elsewhere this weekend.
There is a two-point gap between West Brom and the top six right now, but we have a game in hand still too and we also have three games to play before the season is over.
We now have to win all of those games, including against second-placed Sheffield United in midweek.
It won’t be easy, but it’s doable. Keep the faith and believe.
