Jed Wallace must be axed by Carlos Corberan for second half of West Brom v Sunderland

Carlos Corberan must substitute Jed Wallace after the West Brom attacker produced an anonymous first-half performance against Sunderland.

The 29-year-old failed to make an impact, with Sky Sports coverage of the game highlighting that he had only touched the ball three times (23 April), which was the least of any player on the pitch.

This is a fixture which needs Albion’s quality players to step up and, unfortunately, the summer signing failed to do so despite West Brom’s lead courtesy of a John Swift penalty.

Potentially looking to move Swift out wide and bring Tom Rogic into a more central area could well be the route for the West Brom boss to go down.

The Baggies have put themselves in an excellent position to secure a playoff berth and it’s essential they see the job out. A fifth-place finish is very much in their hands and ensuring their recent good form continues is essential. Sunderland know they really need to win to mount a serious playoff push, which could play into the Baggies’ hands during the latter stages of the game.

Okay Yokuslu’s inclusion in the starting XI has come at the perfect time for Carlos Corberan. The midfielder has been a standout performer during the 2022/23 season and having an experienced head on the pitch during pressurised situations is absolutely vital.

Furthermore, the likes of Jayson Molumby, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Taylor Gardner-Hickman have all hit form at the right time. The playoffs are all about momentum and it seems the Baggies have hit form at the perfect time.

It’s absolutely essential West Brom up their performance levels in the second period.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies have sent scouts to track an in-demand defender who’s set to leave as they begin planning for the summer transfer window.
