Tony Brown slams West Brom duo after what he saw in 2-1 Championship loss v Sunderland
Tony Brown has slammed West Brom after Dennis Cirkin scored early in the second half for Sunderland during the Black Cat’s 2-1 win at The Hawthorns.
The Sunderland left-back netted later in the second half to secure a vital three points for Tony Mowbray’s side and leave the Baggies’ playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
Talking on BBC West Midlands coverage of the game, Brown was scathing of Albion’s poor defending in the lead-up to the goal.

“That was the worst thing that could have happened for Albion at the start of the second half,” said Brown (BBC West Midlands, 23 April).
Two players allowed Lynden Gooch to get his cross in, and if you block that cross they don’t score. That’s poor defending.
“It’s going to be some game now.”
Damaging
That’s a damaging loss for Carlos Corberan’s side. Their playoff fate is still very much in their hands but they had to be winning this game at home. Albion’s upcoming fixtures are far from ideal and they will need a near-perfect record. They face Sheffield United next, who are closing in on promotion back to the Premier League.
The performance against the Black Cats was sub-par, but they still had chances to take the lead and even level the scores late on. It’s absolutely essential for the Baggies to put this result behind them quickly.

They have been in good form in recent weeks and they must remember their recent wins over Stoke City and Blackpool. The pressure will be on The Blades on Wednesday evening, it’s imperative for West Brom to take advantage.
With there being so many teams embroiled in the battle to avoid relegation, there will be plenty of twists and turns, but this does feel like an extremely pivotal moment in the season.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies have started plans for the summer window as they’ve sent scouts to track an in-demand defender with an exit on the cards.
