The 34-year-old admitted that it’s not possible to recover from a knock in a short amount of time so he opts to take painkillers in order to be available for Carlos Corberan’s side.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Pieters’ methods, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “Reducing training time and using painkillers for his specific issue – knee irritation – is quite commonplace, especially at this time of the year and crucial stretches of the season.
“Medium and long-term risks can be increased irritation as you’re just covering up a symptom but that will also depend on what’s causing the problem in the first place.”
The Dutchman has been a regular for the Baggies this season in their quest for promotion, featuring in 33 league games.
Despite being a centre-back, he has also been deployed at left-back to provide cover and has put in an impressive shift for Corberan’s side.
In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened and may even leave for free.
