Daryl Dike injury may cost West Brom spot in play-offs – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Campbell believes that losing Daryl Dike for the rest of the season is a big blow for West Brom and their quest to get promoted to the Premier League.

The Baggies are currently in 9th place and need to win both their remaining games against Norwich City and Swansea to have any chance of making the play-offs.

They’ve suffered two back-to-back defeats since news emerged that the United States international will be out for a number of months. [West Brom official website]

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News about Dike’s injury and the play-off picture, Campbell, a Sky Sports pundit, said, “It’s a big blow for the player and the club, I looked at it and it was kind of an innocuous thing but those are always the worst injuries and it’s proven that he’s out for a long time.

West Brom still have a chance for the play-offs but now somebody else is gonna have to come in and step up.

I think someone from the fringes will have to come in and do the business instead of Dike. None of them have got the same attributes as Dike but they’ll have their own talent and that’s what they’ve got to impose on the team.

Brandon Thomas-Asante has started in place of Dike for the losses against Sheffield United and Sunderland.

The 24-year-old has scored seven league goals all season and Carlos Corberan will be counting on him to step up in the final two games.

In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened and may even leave for free.
