Andy Carroll shares three-word reaction to West Brom exit news

Andy Carroll has shared his response to the news that West Brom club captain Jake Livermore will leave The Hawthorns at the end of the season, on his Twitter account.

He saluted his former teammate with the message “What a guy”, following a heartfelt letter to the Baggies fans from Livermore, posted to the club’s official website.

Saturday’s Championship clash against Norwich City could be his last home fixture as a Baggies player but he has stated his hopes that there will be more to come with the playoff prospects still alive.

The 33-year-old reflected warmly on the last six and a half years in the West Midlands, including the following.

“As my spell here comes to a close, your support is more important than ever,” he said. “I don’t want this weekend to be the last time I walk out at The Hawthorns – I don’t want this Saturday to be goodbye.

“I believe that our story is not yet written and that there will be one or two more twists and turns in our tale because together anything is possible.”

West Brom

Matter of time

Since joining the club in January 2017, the relationship between the player and club has blossomed into a very positive one, as well as enjoying a solid bond with the fans, which was waining.

Having not featured in a league game since November, Livermore’s current status and prominence is reflected in that but he has contributed plenty over the years for the Albion.

He endured the lows of relegation twice during his time at the club, as well as one promotion under Slaven Bilic, so it has certainly been an eventful time in football for the seven-cap England international.

As stated, the Baggies still have an outside chance of securing a playoff berth but that is dependent on other results going their way. First of all, they need to take care of business against Norwich and then away to Swansea City on the last day.

Beyond that, there could be another chapter in store for the midfielder at another club, elsewhere.
