West Brom striker Daryl Dike likely to take 18 months to recover from ACL rupture – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Brom...

Daryl Dike is expected to return to professional action for West Brom before the end of 2023 after rupturing his ACL, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert warns that despite him being back, it will take him 18 months in total to get back to his condition before the injury.

There will be a thorough recovery process to get him back to action but one must not expect him to hit the ground running by October or November.

The United States international will start bearing weights whenever he starts showing signs of recovery and that will be followed by building up his mobility and strength.

The 22-year-old has been ruled out for a number of months via the West Brom official website in April.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Dike’s injury, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “He is most likely to be back before the end of 2023 as elite footballers tend to return in seven-nine months following ACL rupture.

However, I’m typically looking at around 18 months as a true barometer of return to pre-injury levels.

The stages of recovery are to get him weight bearing as soon as possible then building up mobility, strength, and neuromuscular control from basic functions, return to walking and running, introducing different planes of movement, and then progressing to more football-like actions.

West Brom

The United States international was battling an injury concern right as he joined the club and has now suffered another one which will keep him out for the long run.

This season, he has scored seven league goals for the Baggies in 23 appearances and has also provided a solitary assist.

In other West Brom news, a Sky Sports pundit is now fearing for Baggies’ promotion question after news emerged that has dealt a huge blow to Carlos Corberan.
